Apparently according to everyone elses figures... I rag the sh1t out of my megane!

Its a 1.9dci and i reset it about every month to make sure there's no problems; and i get about 28-35mpg.
Depending on where i've been in the month.

Mez wrote:my mpg is atrotious .... 28mpg around town i clearly have a lead food and cannot maintain speed BUT

when motorway driving i can reach up to 75mpg !!! its "doo" able especially with the 50mph restirctions everywhere 8-)

Even a 1.4 can do better than that!
I need to stop with the back road bandit antics!

I'm getting on average 38 Mpg.
The other day I reset it and came back home through some nice twisting A roads and averaged 44 Mpg and mines a 2.0 Petrol!
I put it down to not having to work it too hard to get it going unlike a smaller Asthmatic engine.

I fancied a 2.0Ltr petrol as well but the road tax scared me off so went forthe 1.9DCi instead, not bad though pulls around 46 at just over 70mph on the expressway to work when it gets warm (summer) it gets into the 50 mark.
Not to much like a tractor either unless there are walls next to you that bounce the sound back at you.

Thats the only problem, the road tax. Think its £210 a year now. :eek.
But it has a nice sound especially with the roof down. None of the Agricultural clackety clack of a diesel is worth the extra cost.

Don't read to much into that last statement, i'm just trying to justify owning a 2.0 petrol :D

My road tax is going down from £120 to £110 :rock

I usually get around 45 - 49mpg doing town driving and 50 - 65mpg doing motorway driving.

Mine is a 1.5 dci megane cc.

I dont quite understand why the 1.9 is getting 47mpg. I read in another post somewhere here that someone with a 2.0 dci megane cc is getting around 50mpg and the emissions are slightly lower than that of the 1.9.

My road tax has gone down from £35 to £30! :ner

I do mostly motorway miles and after a tank I have usually averaged about 52-53mpg. That is on a mix of driving from 70mph to about 90mph if I'm late/pissed off/fancy a blast! :devil

I think you are right but to be fair to it whilst it is not labouring it is almost silent even with the roof off unless there are walls either side to bounce the sound off but having said that it has got the nickname in our household as the french tractor, I do like the sound of a petrol engine in flight! I only pay £125 road tax same as my old 1.2 Fiat Bravo and my wifes 1.4 petrol Megane Coupe so can't really complain, did notice insurance has shot up this year, by £65 :?: I was told it is becasue it is a convertable??? I thought it was last year as well unless it has changed over the year, she also told me people "forget" to put the roofs up on them and they get stolen, as I said, how can you forget to put the roof up, I think it might be a little obvious really that some thing is missing but hey insurance companies know better, or so they think, went with the post office at £210 fully comp!

I dont quite understand why the 1.9 is getting 47mpg

That is not to bad really for it this time of the year possibly in need of a filter change mid winter it pulls around 43mpg must admit I am a little heavy footed mostly traveling around 75/80mph, last summer going down to Cornwall on the M5 it was pulling 60mpg at 70mph, this week it is only pulling 46.5 that is crappy Asda fuel though runs best on either Esso or Shell, runs even worse on Tesco fuel so that must be real crap to the point I don't use tesco for fuel anymore as the economy I don't get out weights the cheap (well not so now) price of thier fuel. :mad

Thats because you have a hatch, I have a mobile conservatory, I am porbally half the weight again of your hatch, that chunk of glass above my head weighs a ton you can actually feel the weight pushing you down hill, and dragging up back up hill, it makes the car roll from side to side if you are to sharp on the steering wheel, I am often left standing after the rounderbounts on the A55, once my CC has wallowed around them with it's roof on (all the weight above your head rolling around) I'll get a Megane hatch behind me will pop out and shot off whilst mine is still trying to settle itself and pick up momentum again, a lot are 1.5 diesels leaving this 1.9 turbo engined car behind.
Maybe when I lower it and tighten the springs up it will behave a bit better. :-P

Then it will probally use more fuel as I push it harder I supose, fun seems to be expensive these days........

I only got my first Renault on Friday ( 04.06.10 ) and went for a 60 mile spin on the motorway, not going too mental and not under 60ish, and was amazed the display was showing 55mpg!! The best fuel economy of any car I have had. Around town and short trips this week its showing 37mpg which is more than I expected but can probably squeeze a little bit more out of it.

A further update....

Now i have had the car nearly two months my MPG around town is averaging 36-40, so my first weeks 37mpg is about right. Going on the motorway 70-75 mph in sixth gear its doing 60mpg+.

I can belive it, last month had mine on M56 at 59Mpg, M6 at 60mpg and M5 it actually did 62mpg at speeds around 60 to 75ish so it is possible but I find you have to be quite gental with it to keep it there as long as you have a constant speed and gental acceleration and deceleration (no braking) it stays up in the high end mpg happily, the A55 is basically to busy, lots of acceleration and braking going on with slip roads, roundabouts and idots in trucks doing the old last miniute dive out forcing you to scrub of 70 to 45 in a matter of feet, just trying to get to the ferry I supose but a glance in your wing mirror might be nice, and I always thought Churchill use the two finger salute the other way around for victory, unless they are trying to tell me they are vegatarian? :-P
