cuttig out when cold

have had my megane 3 weeks and has just started stalling when cold and runs a bit rough at low revs as this is my first renault am reluctant to take it to a main dealer have heard lots of bad things its a 1.6 vvti manual 5 speed

u need to specify engine type/transmission.

when it cuts out does it restart ok

yes starts straight away have to keep revs a bit high for a min till engine gets warm then ok just a slight juder as you excelerate between 1500 and 2000 revs

crank shaft position sensor or as Renault call it TDC sensor, had same fault wiv mine. Approx £25 to buy. Easy to replace yourself

well have replaced the sensor and still the same have been reading lots of reports on this problem and it seems a fault that wont go away in most cases

was thinking of changing my TDC sensor...ive heard there quite tricky to get to...how did you change yours....from the top or from underneath and did you have to take off any bits to get access ?

on your specific issue...is it stalling just at start-up or after you move away and come to a junction ? mine starts fine...idle's fine..but when you first press accellerator it dies (or it does if you don't manage to catch it...once revs have recovered it's fine again - weird.)

i took it to a friend who has a small garage nothing to tech he said it was not too bad to change if thats anything to go by as for my car its starting to get worse maybe cos its gettig colder i dont know still cuts out when cold until warm but is now running rough in evey gear below 2000 rpm and on motor way above 5000 rpm got spluttery and the warning light came on oonl for a min at most then went out has any body have any ideas

well still no joy with this car had it plugged into a computor no faults recorded has stopped cutting out though when cold but still splutters in 2 nd 3rd and 4th at low revs below 2000rpmjust feels like the engine is holding back its starting to really bug me now feel like i will never solve this
