hi there,
i have just bought a sport 225, on the test drive i noticed a knocking sound on the front left, the dealer said he we have a look, turns out it was the boot on the cv joint that had popped off loosing all the greese, when i picked the car up there was creeking noises at low speeds when turning left or right, the mechanic at the garage says this will fade as the car has being sitting for a month or so, do i trust this man or give him the car back until its gone totally?

Re: cv joint
Creaking noises from a CV joint after fixing the boot are a sign of the CV joint failure. There is nothing there to creak unless the boot is not attached properly. The factory fill of the CV joint is a synthetic Mobil grease which British garages do not have... When replacing the driveshaft choose one with the adequate CV joints -- your car needs the high torque version.
