Sorry if this is an utterly stupid question. I have an '05 CC. As seems to be a fairly common problem, the fuel cap sometimes decides it's not going to open. It usually becomes compliant after I lock/unlock the car a couple times.
However, I loaned the car today to a relative, who didn't know the lock/unlock trick. His preferred method of solution was to tug on the fuel cap as hard as possible.
The net result - the hooks that hold the cap on have snapped, as have the holders into which they fit. So, I need a new outer fuel cap, but also (and here's the bit where I show my ignorance) the black plastic part that swings out which attaches to the outer cap itself. What is that called, and how easy are they to fit?
Normally, I'd look to glueing the snapped bits back on, but it seems they're in a bin at a petrol station......
Any help would be much appreciated.
