Knocking help!!!!!

Postby darkmast3r » Sat Feb 26, 2011 8:49 am

I sat in my megane this morning and heard a boing spring type noise. I started the engine and started to drive and everything seemed normal but.....
When I go over a small pot hole or a small speed hump I get a knocking noise from what sounds like the drivers side.

Any ideas please, this car has been hell. I've still got a bearing to change and 2 cv boots!

you may well find a snapped spring, or it could be a strut top mounting failed.
spring is easily spotted, the top mount you can normally hear creaking as you move lock to lock

I cant hear any creaking on lock. Ive had a top mount go before, it sounds like a bed spring going from lock to lock. I did check the spring but it was dark in the car park this morning. I'l try and have another look when I finish work or tomorrow.

I've been told it could be the anti-roll bar drop link and they are quite common. Hopefully thats all it is.

I've got a broken spring. About 4 inches of thye bottom part of the spring has snapped, causing it to bounce when I go over a bump.
