Fuel Economy - Remapping

Let's face it, fuels not going to get any cheaper.

My 1.5dci 106hp does about 57mpg in summer (average from the computer) but has dropped to 51 mpg in winter. My previous 85hp used to do 60-65mpg.

Had the car checked at last service so everything is OK. Delear suggested I stay away from supermarket fuel, anyone got an opinion on that?

I have been looking at these engine remapping adverts and wondered if they really work, anyone know?

Some are about £300 done at a tuning centre whereas I have seen one you plug in yourself for £95.

Any advice appreciated.

Stay away from the plug in boxes they do not remap your car just con the ecu

Thanks for the replies, yes its the 6 speed version.

I like these cars because they are a good all rounders and give great fuel economy.

I generally run around at about 60mph which is less than the max torque figure of 2200rpm (according to the book). Just wondered if running a bit faster might help the economy.

The winter brings colder, more dense air, and commensurate increase in fuel use. Also the tyres are harder so rolling resistance is increased.

There is a lot of speculation about supermarket fuel. In my opinion, it's all rubbish. As long as it meets the minimum specification for the car, use it.

Remapping a diesel, if done properly (£300), will bring a reduction in fuel use - provided you drive sensibly. The plug in units are a TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY.
