ECU Remapping

Postby aab » Mon Nov 01, 2010 11:07 am

Hi All,

I am currently considering getting an ECU remap by K-Tec. Biggest consideration being the increase in insurance premium. I proceeded to investigate and was told an increae of up to 25% (Maximum 184BHP, Standard 147BHP) would increase my premium by £39 (annual premium is £840 ish). But an increase of more than 25% and they would no longer insure me. Does anybody else find this a little bit strange? Also does anyone have advice on getting 25% more power? I have been told this is a safe increase. Any comments welcome.

This weekend i also fitted my ITG panel filter which they asked an addiotnal £18 for. I considered this to be a requirement for the ECU remap to help with cooling.

Thanks.

Personaly i wouldn't bother mentioning a remap to insurance. If i was insured with anyone other than Greenlight.

You should try them for a quote.. I pay only £625 for R26 which is a lot less than you for a lesser powered yoke.

Thanks for the info.

Reason it is so high is the missus had an accident last year and the claim was about 10k. I will have a look into them though.
