Well, now you have to dismantle it and see how bad is the damage, make some calculations and see if its not worth to buy a 2nd hand engine, with warranty, of coarse...repair that one may be expensive, plus the labor time, that decision is made depending on how far the damage hit it... :?

Good luck on this one.

Cheers!

Hy there,

Dont forget to carefully examine that walls of the chamber for any damage that the debris may have caused, give a good cleaning to the all rest to make sure no debris or metal chips lays there and there you go, you've made the party with a few £. Nicely done... :D

Cheers!

Well i finally got a new piston the other day, and last night in she slipped.

Getting the b*&Y^Y% sump back on though... what a complete sod! It would of course help if i had an engine hoist available at the time but.. never mind! Needs must and all though

She is buttoned up on the underneath now.

Now to get the head back on and fit the new cambelt

Old piston shows some interesting signs of wear, it looked like its had some damage along time ago .. but nevermind. Its all good now :D

Will keep this up to date

Hey guys, managed to rebuild the engine on my 1.9 dci megane 2003, however its still not running on cylinder 2, its now flashing up check injection on there and since the piston had decided to lunch itself on that cylinder (now replaced) i presume little bits of the piston have damaged the injector.

So, the problem... the haynes manual says to remove the torx bolt and hold down clamp.. done and simply remove the injector...

eerrrr... how.. its bloody solid in there. After 2 hours of plus gas, wd40, leverering, swearing and generally contemplating setting fire to the b*%$£ thing ive left it over night with a heath robinson leverage assembly fashioned from the hold down clamp and some threaded bar - exertering some pressure on it.

B*$%$ thing wont come out though, am i being completely retarded and it is in fact some simple thing i am missing?

DOH!!! ive just been reading up about how common it is for these buggers to be stuck in there solid and requiring a hydraulic ram to remove them. Damnit... another special tool im going to have to make!

Oh well, it will be handy to have i suppose, and its another service we can offer customers (starting our own business)

got to machine up some buggery injector clamp now...

its out! Huzzah!

had to fabricate up a little device to apply pressure to it vertically whilst i yanked the hell out of it with a metre long prying bar... but we got there in the end! :D

/hhaaaaleulah..

or however you say it

anyways, the megane is fixed!!!! i got sick and tired of buying second hand injectors that were fuggered (despite being promised otherwise) and so robbed one out of the laguna.

HEY PRESTO CHANGO she started straight up on all 4. Admittedly it was smoking like a trooper and ok.. i might have accidentally got it dieseling again by itself for a few seconds before i could stall the fecker. And it didnt want to stall i assure you, it was dragging itself down the road despite pulling hard on the hardbrake. And before i could do that, it was quite happily clattering the valves into the piston!!!! still.. at least thats the new piston ran in.... sort of

having left it for half an hour after this... debacle... to clear itself out of any fuel out of the intercooler etc... a quick bootfull... no more dieseling and the smoke was getting less and less dense.

quick test drive showed 2 thing :-

a) it made a great smokescreen for a while

b) this soon cleared and she drives and sounds like a good un :)

All fixed, no more smoke and total cost - 1200 large ones, inc. the car, new turbo, piston, cambelt, full service!

sweet!

Sounds like a result! Now change your signature...!
Silver 08 plate 5dr 1.5dci Dynamique 106 Tech Run (re-mapped)

Red 03 plate 5dr 1.9 Dynamique dci120

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!

Most people would simply change the engine but i prefer to do like you did, open everything and just repair it. Good one!

I suggest you to make a long ride with it just to make sure you clean everything and after that everything should be alright.

Cheers!
