Megane II 1.4 16V Dynamique

Postby osaaf786 » Thu Sep 23, 2010 8:07 pm

Hi,

I am new to this forum. I have a 2005 Megane of the above specs.

I havce recently had many problems with the engine. 1st one of the coil packs was gone and i got all 4 change. Cleaned the throttle body and still the engine is doing problems. I have taken it to various mechanics and been surfing the web and found that the engine may have a dephaser pulley problem. On ringing Renault they said that the engine in my megane does not have a dephaser pulley.

Does anyone else have the same megane with the same size engine and had similar problems??

I have been reading and people have had similar problems. But nothing really about the dephaser pulley. Can anyone please help?

Thanks in advance.

the dephaser pully is only on the 1.6 VVT engine
if you give some symptoms of your issues someone might be able to suggest cause.

thanks for the reply!!

Basically my car will start and i can drive it.. But whilst driving it will surge and then eventually cut out!! i have had it for a diagnostic this morning and they found nothing.after picking my car up it did the same thing and i have taken it back to the mechanic for a re-test to see if the diagnostic picks up anything.

Any ideas of what it could be??

start with cleaning the throttle body and the butterfly inside it with carb cleaner and check the air intake tubing for any leaks / splits.
Beyond that could be a sensor, but pinpointing which one could be costly / difficult without the ECU flagging it up in a diagnostic .

Thanks for your reply.

I have just spoke to my mechanic and after doing the diagnostic again he has found there is a problem with the ECU and has said to repair the problem it will be a heavy sum. Do you know of any mechanics or do you know whether i can get the whole unit changed for a reasonable price??
