Can't wait to see the finished product. I just finished cutting the crap out of my door panels untill the speaker fitted nicely
All done now but I could'nt figure out which wire was positive and which negative

Doesn't really matter I don't think, but sometimes there will be a noticable difference, I usurally try both ways and go with which sounds best, so far as I no there's no problem if it's wrong! Nit done anything more with them today but hoping to sand them down tomorro and then cover them. I'll keep this updated, do your speakers fit ok with the window down or are they too deep??

Its really close to be honest. I'm not sure how I'm going to waterproof it yet without the window ripping it out every time it goes down.

given up!lol
cant get the shape right, n then if it does look ok the others odd, or the other way round! think if i was going to do it id make it out of something really softish, then do a vaccume form of it. cant even get the speaker to stay in as it was before, how have you got on with yours? i think i might have to get the whole door pannel off to get the speaker back in securely, dont think thats all that easy

I did the bodge job fine but decided the speaker needs to be enclosed because my £120 speakers sound like £10 speakers. So tomorrow I am doing this - dynomat too http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=273193&id=162163156182 It isnt a tutorial but quite self explanatory. The shop charge £200 :O but it is a well tidy job.

So have they mounted the speaker to the door? N then put the covers back over? I can't see how the window will be able to go down with the speaker where they have put it?!

Yo! 1 migraine and 12 hours later I think I went a little over the scheduled time... but I did the job and it sounds epicly better.
I see what you mean joeishmather and thats what I thought. Although my speakers where the identical to the ones in the photos I had problems with the window going down on them so I just added another piece of plywood to mount them higher and its done
You have to move the window motor further across and cut a sh1t load of pointless plastic from the back of the door car to get it to go back on but its worth it. I used some dynomat although I wish I could afford more dynomat I used some acoustic tiles from my studio.

more photos when Facebook stops crapping out.

Re: 16.5cm speaker in front door panel.
how deep roughly are your speakers, and also have you put a larger wooden panel and the n a ring to lift it further from the window?
also how did you go about removing the door panel?
looks like a good job!!

It's just one layer if plywood and then a ring to avoid the window. The Door card comes off with 1 screw behind door handle, take out the door pocket and there's another screw there. Then there are 2 more under the cover of the big handle. Most things just unclip and pop out. Be careful but also don't be scared to use force.

Is the dynomat like a foil backed sticky tarr type thing, because do you thing a kind of roof sealing thing would do the same job, so far as I'm aware it's pretty much the same, I used to just use bubble wrap, but apparently this stuff would be better?
