16.5cm speaker in front door panel.

Postby Kylegypo » Thu Sep 16, 2010 12:01 am

Just bought some 6.5 in. / 165 mm JL Audio Evolution C2-650X Coaxial speakers for my Megane with the hopes of modifying the current 13 cm speaker moulds to accommodate the 16.5 cm's . Has anyone done this?

Indeed. No idea what that is either - though a guess would be some kind of enclosure that the speaker sits in and is bolted to the door interior.

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!

Exactly my opinion but I don't have the contacts to get one made, especially for less than £200. I don't care if its shiny bloody silver, simple black will do me. Anyone ideas how I can modify my original grill?

I have larger speakers in mine, I just made the original hole bigger, the grill still gos over and they work fine, only problem is because the speakers are deeper than the originals the window sometimes catches them when I put it down, I can upload a pic if you want?

Yes please If you don't mind. My magnets are quite large and I've seen the tutorial on removing the water shield was hoping that with the grill above I Wouldn't need to. Somehow my window already catches something on th way down and up :s even though I have the pioneer tsq's

Haha I can't be bothered to do a neat job myself anyway. Did you cut away the water sheild to accommodate the larger speaker magnet?

yeah, cut everything that was in the way really, then put some bubble wrap over the top and behind to protect from water and for better sound
