Removing front speakers

I need to check the seal around the front speakers as I am getting water in my door pocket. And I have some questions:

1) How do you get the plastic speaker grille off. I have given it a little tug but don't want to break any tabs.
2) I was going to put a bit of silicon sealant (bathroom stuff) around the speaker. But where should it go?? Presumably between the speaker and the metal of the door the speaker is bolted to??

why, with the silicone, the speakers are tiny not sure what it would achive?

and it just pulls off start at the side nearest the front of the car, do be careful tho s they can break!

After reading a few posts on water in the door pocket its seems to a problem caused with water getting in because the seal around the speakers has failed.

Or have I read it wrong somewhere (not the first time )

the original speakers are covered by a plastic shield, you shouldnt really have any problems, anyway if you do itll just push you into getting some decent ones!lol

I did think about you know. But its the wifes car and the music she listens to cannot be helped by a decent set of speakers

lol, i see what your saying!

to be honest i really wouldn't worry, the water dribbles over the back of the speaker shield and sometimes if its really wet i imagine some will get on the speaker, but its all plastic and sooo cheap i wouldn't go to the trouble of putting the sealant there, also so far as i can remember everywhere that could be covered/sealed is, anymore and it'd stop the sound.

Yeah I'm not too fussed about the speaker as it should be ok.

Its the door pocket getting full of water that i'm trying to stop.
I thought I had to re-seal the speaker to stop the water getting into the door pocket??

I had a good feel around the bottom of the door and couldn't find anything.

I plucked up the courage and tugged the speaker covers off, whats with the stupid plastic tab that goes under the door handle?

Anyhow, I then got out the hose and sprayed the car door. Had a look inside and water was seeping in from around the bottom of the speaker.
Took the speaker out and it was wet on the other side. I could see the skin of the car door and water was dripping everywhere, there is no waterproofing at all.

I had some double sided padded tape left over from installing my kitchen and put this around the door card where the speaker mounts. I didn't remove the backing from the side of the tape that is going against the speaker. And put the speaker back in.

I gave the door another soaking with the hose and it seems to have stopped leaking.

Fingers crossed this has fixed it.

I know I am a bit late with this one but have recently started to have the same problem with my door pockets filling with water and thought this may help others that are experiencing the same. (megane 225).
After 2 weeks of repeatedly removing the speaker cover to find where the water is coming in I have nailed it.
Yes you were right with the silicone idea, simply remove the 2 screws retaining the speaker in place and you will probably find it is wet at the bottom of the speaker and around the plastic housing. Clean and dry the speaker and the housing and apply a light bead of silicone around the back of the speaker ( you will see an original felt seal on the back of the speaker, put the silicone on top of it). Screw the speaker back in place and remove any excess silicone with a damp cloth.
When you put the speaker grill back in place, apply a small amount of silicone to each of the retaining clips on the back of the speaker grill as these to were allowing water in on mine. Give it a few hours for the silicone to cure and then give the car a leak test with plenty of water. All being well and that mine was not just pure luck, your leak should have gone.
