Setting the alarm?

Hi all now with the weather getting better can anyone enlighten me of the easiest way of setting the alarm on my 2004 CC while the roof is down??? Seems to set the alarm off as soon as I blip the key. Checked the drivers manual but to no avail. Anthony

it's FAQ'd i think. 5 presses of the start button quickly. and it is in the manual - at least the normal hatch version!

Yep FAQed a few times, but in short:
5 preses of start button - no feet on pedals. goes like this.
1 - switch off.
2 -take card out [wait to hear stearing lock click in]
3 - press start button 5 times [you have a 7 second window but make sure they are 5 good presses]
4 - open door and get out
5 - Lock car you will hear a few high pitched bleeps from the driver rear boot area, this tells you sensors have been deactivated.

I do not dead lock it, and have had no problem with the alarm operating it in this manor - everytime you get out with the roof down you will have to do this as it all self arms again as soon as you switch on when you get back in, from what I can gather you are not switching the alarm off just the ultra sonics.
have a go, it took me a few goes to get it right but once you have its simple.

As said above it can be tricky. Sometimes after I have opened the door the radio decides to switch itself back on!!! I then after restart the car and go through the process again.

BTW I always deadlock it whether the sensors are disabled or not.

Personally I don't see the point when it has no roof on, I just lock it, but I must say I am funny about leaving it with no roof on, it is never for very long and I have to be in the versinity of the car, plus I live on the coast, the last thing you want is toxic seagull crap on your leather, it burns into your paint if you are not careful so god knows what mess it would make of your leather!!

SWMBO had to roof down today and a bird crapped on the inside the car!! I thought it was funny, but Deb did n't think so!!

Brick bridges and tunnels are my downfall, I always get "hit" by that drip of water usually on the head, my wife finds this hysterically funny - strange things wowen, if that was me I would really be concerned she had been hit by this water drip! I would not dream of near wetting myself laughing at her..............well????? not really, not that much!
TBO never would get away with it, I would pay for that on many levels!!!!

My wife has tried this but we do not get the bleeps (we do when we unlock it) and the alarm then goes off again a few minutes later.

Must be doing something wrong.

MMmmm how strange.
I make sure everyone is out and passenger doors shut before I take out card from slot, and as soon as I hear the stearing lock click on I hit the start button 5 good presses with a definat gap inbetween them then out door shut and locked either by handle (when working) or card button usually, quick listern to driver side rear just behind rear seat forthe bleeps - job done.

Strange yours wont work.
