Throttle response = sh1t

Postby JJR » Mon Jun 14, 2010 1:59 pm

Hi there

When i floor the throttle (rly fast) and then let it go, it reactcs rly slow.
like 0,3 secs delay of when im hitting the throttle.
Anyone know what may be wrong?
Driving straight and so on is no problem. Only when starting (sometimes look like im a newb at driving)

Its a 1,6 from 2003. Yeah i know its not a racing machine, but the delay is still huge i think. + the clutch is acting wierd, fells like its not grapping when thrown and it have only 83k on meter.

Clutch life might be 100k on a good day. Depends on how it's been driven in the past. If it's slipping (which it sounds like it might be) you need a new one.

Go to an empty car park. Engage the handbrake, select 2nd gear and rev the engine to around 3500rpm. Let the clutch out slowly while keeping the revs constant. If you can't easily stall it (or not stall it at all) it's time to visit the garage.

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!

I have the same engine in my car and while i'm yet to notice significantly delayed throttle response, i have to say it pretty gutless below 1.5K revs. Does pick up quite well at higher revs though.
