loads of codes that wont erase????
Hi all, got a 2002 megan 1.9 dci that has suffered a collapsed turbo and in the process it ran on its own oil and couldnt be switched off,the engine reved very high then cut out.Luckly the car started the day after without any serious engine noises,so i fitted a new turbo unfortunatly in my hast to fix i did not empty the intercooler of oil and on starting up the engine it ran perfect until i revved it ,then again it over revved on the oil in the intercooler,this time i managed to stall the engine in gear to stop it.The problem now is it wont start and i appear to have a lot of fault codes they are as follows-----

Have you actually properly cleaned everything up yet (intercooler, pipework, sensors, etc)? You have probably covered the new turbo in shite as well as a lot of other stuff.
What electronics did you disconnect during the process? The reason I ask is that most of these codes seem electrically related.
It sounds a mess. Have you had a look at the glowplugs?
I would take off the bumper, and remove every single piece of tubing and sensors and clean them (and the new turbo).
The fact that the codes won't clear is less important - it depends on what you have hooked up - permanent isn't necessarily so.
These codes concern me most.

Hi ,sorry maybe i should have said ,all pipes and sensors are now cleaned out,and the glowplug timer and glowplugs all check out ok,was wandering if the cranksensor incoherance could mean the belt timing has jumped a tooth,i havent checked that yet.!!!!

i am pretty sure you have got the battery on the wrong way round. also if you have you are probably going to need a new alternator. sounds like you have put a live up all the earths

Hi ,the battery is not on the wrong way round,all these faults have occured after the engine was run and it revved itself up,is it possible the alternator could have burnt out anyhow ??and if the alternator was burnt out wouldnt it still run just not charge??

yes the engine would still run just the battery wouldn't get charged and this could be indicated by the battery light being on. also if the the alternator was blown the electric steering would not work

Me too,sounds like a whole mess to me.Maybe get it transported to Renault and get them to read all the faults with there software and see what they say.It will be cheaper than replacing things that might not be the cause and then you will know the exact cause befor spending more money.And we all know how expensive these things can end up.

Got to agree really. Try an independent Bosh outfit before Renault. One thing is certain, they know nothing about their own cars.

for something to bring up so many faults like that it has to be something to do with the power to the car i.e battery, alternator maybe starter.

This doesn't help the original poster much, but if the ECU shows many faults, it maybe broken, mis-connected, or full of water. It might be broken beyond repair. A hair dryer might fix it. Then again, the problem could be due to a faulty earth or shorted battery cell. There are many possibilities.
Conclusion: It is unlikely that all the individual components have failed. It maybe a general fault (earthing corrosion, for example), but the presence of so many codes indicates either a major electrical fault (dead battery), one fault leading to misleading codes, or for some unconnected reason, ECU failure.

Hi all, thanx for all replies,finally got to bottom of it ,battery turned out to be duff,replaced that then all fault codes cleared .Car still wouldnt start though.removed glow plugs to do a compression test and while testing cylinder 1 noticed that cylinder 2 was chuffin a lot of fuel out of the glowplug hole.all compressions were ok ,so i removed all injectors and found the injector in cylinder 2 was melted on the tip,basically there was one big hole at the end of the injector spewing fuel out ,so this reduced fuel pressure to the rest of the injectors.Replaced number 2 injector for a new one and the car started and runs absolutly fine.So it looks like when the turbo blew and the engine revved on its own oil ,it caused the injector to melt and that stopped it running.Cost £110.00 for a new injector and my own time ,think ive been very lucky realy could have been a lot worse,thanx again everyone.

Hi just to answer last question the injector didnt need coding just fit it and started up.
