Hi,
Am thinking of down grading the size of wheels on the Megane and need a bit of help. Tried the search engine but not working with site issues at the mo.
At present am running Nervasport 205/50/17's and have a spare which is a steel 205/55/16. I assume the 205/55/16 is the standard megane wheel tyre combo as our car came with the 17's as it was a demo car from our local dealership.
So what I need is confirmation that 205/55/16 is the correct size if I want to drop to 16's and also what tyre/wheel combo would be if I wanted to drop further to 15's. Any help grateful.
Cheers
Rich
PS. If I do go down this route the current 17's will be up for grabs in the near future.

Thanks for the info and quick response there. Now to see what wheel/tyre packages I can get for a reasonable price.

I would not advise cheap tyres. You're better off with a little bit more expensive tyres of higher quality.

Re: Help on finding 15" wheel tyre sizes
Know what you mean about cheap tyres, wouldn't do it. Just prices of decent branded 17's expensive and hard to justify on a car which is just going to be a run around hence dropping wheel size. The joy of having a young family, gone are the boy racer days and all my hopes off modifying the car. All my money going on nappies, toys and baby stuff and of course an estate car as a second car

My car came with Avons on its17s (second hand obviously), only ever used continental or the michs and must say I'm not impressed with the Avons which are damned right dangerous in the wet and pretty shock in the dry anyway!

Re: Help on finding 15" wheel tyre sizes
Just noticed Kwik fit doing continentals 17" for £100 a corner. Doesn't get much better than that. Also the 16sI had on my old Megane did provide a far better ride than the 17s. You think this is bad, try having a Scenic where because of the odd 16"side (60) its £100 + per decent tyre too!

Re: Help on finding 15" wheel tyre sizes
Cheers for the info on the Conti's, will have a look at it. At the moment got Kleber's on it, previously from Renault and then Black Circles both just shy of £100. Good grip in both dry and wet with them, though on previous cars Yokohama's, Conti's and Pirelli's.
Yokohama are same as Avon in wet, absolutelty dire but stick like poop in the dry (only got 3k out the fronts in my Focus ST170 and not due to tracking or burnouts).
Pirelli were good in dry but not too great in wet, whereas the Conti's were good in all conditions.

There is no need for altering the speedo, since the outer wheel circumference does not change dramatically. This applies to the original tyre sizes: 195/65 15, 205/55 16, 205/50 17.
