Odometer keeps resetting

My odometer keeps resetting so I lose how many miles I have done mpg all of it really annoying as I am trying to find out what I get to a full tank

is it resetting when you start the car ? if so you need a new car battery, not enough juice in it to start the car and keep the data.

but its only the odometer and not the time or radio car starts fine

What about the main mileage counter? Does it add a few miles every time you switch the car off? Someone described a similar fault, which was caused by a lack of voltage on some connector. Check the fuses. The battery is an obvious suspect, so make sure it is good.

ok thanks funny thing is it dosnt do it all the time 1st time it did it was 286 miles then 143 miles so no real pattern

No, I mean the main mileometer, the one that shows the total mileage of the car. Is it affected? Under a certain fault it may start adding 100 miles every time the car is switched off. If this happens intermittently, then look for loose contacts and check the battery.

thanks i have kept an eye on this and its not adding any miles to the clockso when the weather gets a bit better ill have a look and see if there is anything loose

Hi Duncan did u get to the bottom of your dash reset problem as I am having the same issue only the clock and radio are resetting as well? Thanks James
