225 rear bumper and towbar ?

Hi all,

A strange question i know !

I have a 2007 megane and i want to fit a 225 rear bumper, the only problem i have is my car is fitted with a towbar, will it still be possible to fit a 225 rear bumper ?

I don't believe it will as the 225 was never designed for that purpose.

Bumpers are alot lower in dimension and exhausts have alot of obstruction.

Ive got a removable one on mine with the 225 bumper i modded the angle of the tow bar works a treat now

How did you modify the towbar mate?

Hi mate the way i did it was took a bolt out and altered the angle of the towbar then made a bracket
so i could put the bolt back in and still have the strength
not very good description i know sorry

Thanks for the reply mate, have you got any pictures? If would help me out loads! It's the only thing stopping me doing the converstion not knowing if my towbar will fit!

hi mate,

its one thats on all the time, ive had it on the ramps at work today, and from seeing where its connected to the body/chassis, theres little room to put a 225 bumper let alone a 225 exhaust !

Looks like i might have to remove the bar all together and use a diffrent vehicle for towing !

If you plan on putting the 225 exhaust on you'll need to buy the towbar specific to the 225 sport, ren do them as i nearly put one on mine when i had the go-kart.

do you have a part number for the 225 towbar and a price ?

also will this bolt on to my '07 1.4

Not a clue mate, it was a long time back, think its called a removable swan neck to fit the 225, you will have to check with renault or somewhere if it fits and if they actually sell one.
