Oil Light on when rev above 2000rpm!

Hi all, more problems with my megane, 53 reg, 1.6 dynamique, had lots of work done, but when i turn car on Oil Light on when i rev above 2000rpm!, There is plenty of oil in the car, The head gasket has not gone so its not that. Also the rediator fan comes on as soon as i turn the on? Can any one help please, thanks James.

The temperature sensor is probably gone. A few people had the same thing in the past. It can be still showing correct readings on the dash under the fault.

Are you sure the oil level does not exceed the maximum, is not below the minimum, the oil is fresh, at least MB229.3 spec and the OEM filter is used? If in doubt, consider changing the oil/filter again, just to eliminate one of likely causes.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I thaught the rad fans comming on would be the because of the fan switch, so thanks for that. The car has been serviced with the oil that is reccomended for the car from unipart (partco). also had all filters changed ect, had new cam shaft sensor, new crank sensor.
I have been told it could be the oil pressure sensor, but I dont want to use the car untill I know that it is safe to be driven, any help would be great, thanks.

Forgot to mention, If I start the car and leave it running (without reving it) then the oil light and stop light do not come on. But as soon as I rev the car STOP and OIL light come on, and beeps aswell!

I don't have anything else to add other than that written by Alex. However, it might be prudent to remove the oil pressure sensor and attach a suitable gauge to measure the actual oil pressure. This is just speculation though. Just a way of eliminating the oil pump and strainer blockage...

It beeps as well... Why didn't you say this the first time? It is possible that the ECU "thinks" that the engine is overheated.

It might be indicated in the EOBD output. So, an option is to buy ELM327 at £20 from ebay and examine the engine. A cheaper option is to call the parts department of a dealer, get the part number, and then just replace the temperature sensor.

hi, i personally would advise maybe not to buy your oil and filters from these 'motor factors' as i do not think the quality is of good standard, if you ever need any service items go to www.opieoils.co.uk the oil is of much better quality and you also get a discount from being a member here, just a pointer something i would never do...cheers

Hi all, changed the temp sensor, no change! Oil Light, Stop Light and beep's when reved above 2000rpm! And the fans come on as soon as engine is turned on.

Renault Megane 1.6 Manual, 2003, owned for 2 month, changed cam shaft sensor, crank sensor, changed oil and filter to recommended spec ect,

Despite the beep and light coming on the car still drives spot on.

Any help please.

Check the oil pressure.
