auto wipers

looking for some advice,having replaced sensor on windscreen the auto wipers no longer work and the auto lights seem to have a mind of there own .ie the service light will come on!

I had to 'fit' a sensor when I bought the car as the previous owner had a new screen fitted but no sensor. I was getting a lot of 'auto light fail' warnings along with the service light but a local renault indy said it was a blown bulb. I replaced the bulb and still kept getting the problem qute randomly. Each time I was finding a blown bulb. Evenetually I was told to disconnect the battery for 15 mins to reset the ecu fault codes. It seems to have worked. I can only assume it was coincidence that bulbs kept blowing.
