Hi Alex, thanks for your reply. My car was back at the dealer today for them to try and fix the cold hesitation and a technician drove the car and confirmed my complaint. When I picked the car up the service dept told me that the technician found something wrong with the spark plugs so they changed them and said that it was running better with the new plugs in. I didn't get to try it out for cold running on the way home from the dealer as the engine was already warm so I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning to see if it's fixed or not! I'm not expecting it to be fixed though as the service dept also told me that the hesitation when the engine is cold is a characteristic of the 1.6 VVT engine and it is because the fuel mixture is lean whilst the engine is cold because of emissions laws. They also said that they have reset my ECU and increased the idle speed slightly to compensate for the erratic idle speed when its ticking over when cold. The guy also mentioned something about the car's brain/computer learning my driving style or something like that and I think he also mentioned about the O2 sensor parameters but didn't write anything down so am typing this off memory! I hope it has been cured as I've owned enough cars in the past that have had fault after fault and apart from this small problem the car drives really nice.

Hi, latest is that problem still not cured and car hesitates worse now because of freezing temps. Car going back to dealer tomorrow as they actually admitted that they do get a few megane's back with throttle body problems, i.e. clogged up, and owners complaining of symptoms similar to what I describe, so they're going to check and clean my throttle body and hopefully cure the flat spot once and for all! On a different note does anyone know if my Megane - 1.6 VVT Dynamique registered Nov 2004 has traction control/ESP? Looking in the manual it mentions it, but then it also mentions a switch next to the dashboard light dimming switch that enables you to turn the traction control off and mine doesn't have that switch. Also, I'm not sure if my auto front wipers are working as when it has rained recently, I've waited to see if they start working on their own, but I always end up having to switch them on manually due to visability! Like the auto headlights, do you have to leave the stalk in the off position? Thanks

if you haven't got the buttons..you car doesn't have that facility...it was an option on Dynamique...and stardard on the model above.
Auto Wipers work with the stalk on the first setting...but each time you start the car you have to switch the stalk to off then on again. I think Dynamique should have this...it should have an additional collar on the stalk with a sensitivity setting with rain drops on it.
there is also the possibility that if youve had a replacement windscreen at anytime then the sensor could have not been fitted back correctly (same sensor for auto lights/wipers) ort is faulty.
