Message on display Check Injection

Postby PatBoySlimUK » Tue Dec 08, 2009 2:05 pm

As I left for work this morning my 2004 Megane 1.9 DCi put a message up on the computer saying check injection. The car drives normal with no loss of power. If I stop ,turn off ignition then restart (sometimes twice) the message goes away.I have added some diesel injection cleaner from the services to a full tank od diesel to see if it stop the problem.

Does anyone have any idea's what causes this ?

First port of call would be the glow plugs. There is a full topic on how to test them. My method is to use a multimeter, with the engine cold, switch off the ignition (remove the key card), open the bonnet, pull off each connector in turn and measure the resistance from the terminal to the chassis earth. It should be 0.6 - 1 ohm. If infinite or 0, it's broken. They cost a tenner each.

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!
