Hi to all (yes its my first post!).
OK, on my way back from Manchester yesterday (motorway) when all of a sudden Check Injector light comes on and car goes into "limp" mode.
It limped all the way back to stoke, (I did try a stop / start at the lights but straight back to warning / limp).
After leaving the car for 10 minutes it then seemed fine, turbo pulling as it should etc - for about a mile then hey presto Check Injector, and car sluggish again.
Read up on this forum and made the following conclusions!
This could relate to a number of things, however, Glow Plugs unlikely because of car starts ok and seems ok from cold.
Just in case, I am gonna check all glow plugs this afternoon with a meter. I also picked up some carb cleaner from halfords so gonna try cleaning the EGR Valve. Same symptoms this morning when heading to halfords - fine for the first 2 miles then up comes the issue. Come out of Halfords and it is fine nearly all the way home (approx 4 miles) then just before I get back the problem re-occurs.
I guess my efforts on the EGR / Plugs could be in vain but worth a try. If the valve clean / plugs ok it will be off to Renault for diags but would appreciate any feedback on the particular issue if anyone can help?
Thanks in advance, Mick.

Re: Check Injection and limp mode - 1.9DCi
Update: Checked the glow plugs with a meter and as expected they were all ok.
I then removed the EGR, it was heavily coked /sooted up. Gave it a good clean with carb cleaner popped back, car started, was ok for about 5 minutes then "check injection" etc etc....
Booked in tomorrow with Renault for diags. I was really hoping the EGR clean would sort it.

Read the EOBD codes; ELM327 reader from ebay may help. Different faults cause different levels of "limping", these are described in the manual and the manual is pointed at in my message in Links.

Re: Check Injection and limp mode - 1.9DCi
Update again - after what looked like a failure straight after me cleaning the EGR may (hopefully) be a red herring. I took the car out and at first was a little sluggish - more noticeable in first, and then seemed to go well.
Done about 20 miles with no issue and no repeat of the "injection" message or loss of performance. Cancelled my appointment in Renault to try it for now but have noticed other owners had intermittent faults very similar.
Keeping my fingers crossed, it seemed to re-occur within a couple of miles before cleaning the EGR.

I'm having this problem as well. My engine light has been on for the past couple of days, but went off earlier. I thought maybe whatever the problem was had maybe magically sorted itself out, but then coming into Belfast, I got the Check Injection message. I was thinking it had to be the glow plugs, but after you saying this, I'm not entirely sure. I'll maybe have to book it in with Renault and get them to have a look at it.

It could be the glow plugs if you get the error etc from cold. If the engine is warm then I believe the glow plugs are not used.
Either way, I did a simple check on the glow plugs with a multi meter (got details on this forum). I am not mechanically minded but got myself a meter from halfords. Really straight forward! I also found the EGR valve cleaning quite easy using £5 for carb cleaner also from Halfords - took me a couple of hours with cleaning etc - could be worth taking off and checking before paying £60-£80 for renault just to do the diag. Again followed the instructions on this site.
Car has now done around 200 miles (round town and motorway) and "touch wood" no further issues - running well. Also noticed that no black smoke at all from the rear when you give it the beans (this used to happen before the issues / EGR clean).

Re: Check Injection and limp mode - 1.9DCi
Hi, my first post so bear with me.
I was getting a check ignition fault. It appeared probably 4 out of 7 days and usually around the 15 minute from cold point. I say usually as it has happened at around 2 hours. The check ignition and service light comes on, the car coughs and the lights go out after about 1 second (maybe 2). I checked the glow plugs which were all ok but replaced them anyway with new Bosch ones. (I checked these first before fitting).
Last week I spotted oil spray marks coming forward from the lower part of the grill and on closer inspection found two tiny holes in the intercooler. By the time I got home (driving below 2000rpm) the holes had become a 3 1/2 inch split. I replaced the intercooler and the car ran fine for 5 days with no warnings.
Just as I thought the problem was sorted, the check ignition light came on twice this morning in the same manner as previously described.
I have been told by a 'friend' at a renault specialist that the diagnostics need a reset to clear the fault code in the ecu.
How do I do this? I forgot to ask him. Or is it a garage job!

Some intercoolers split because of bad design, but if it was losing oil, I would seriously check out the turbo. It may be leaking oil or ridiculously overboosting. Something needs attention (maybe the breather system). Resetting the ECU codes will work until they re-appear. Most small garages will charge you £20 or so for clearing the codes, but make a note of them first!

The oil in the intercooler was not excessive, I think it was a build up of oil from 100k miles of driving. There is no smoke from the exhaust either. The two holes looked like impact damage which would have then propagated I guess from the pressure.
I cant write down the codes as I dont know what they are, I just get a warning telling me to check ignition.
Does the ELM327 work with this car? (1.5 dci Megane)
Today, weather permitting, I am going to disconnect the battery for 15 mins and clean the egr. Then see how it goes.

sorry to drag on an old post up but this is exactly described as ours is. and its really annoying!
Its had new injectors fitted as i thought it was a bad misfire to begin with., all well after a week then back to normal..stop starts doesnt always work. ive cleaned the map sensor with carb cleaner..no difference. So am hoping its the egr valve. only problem is i cant get the egr valve out

Only other problem the computer brought up (prior to the 2 ive stated) was turbo pressure sensor which is that part with 2 vac lines. but tbh i cant see replacing that do any any difference??
