Noise when locking car

Postby yoshimi » Thu Oct 08, 2009 8:38 am

I just had my 54 Scenic into Kwik Fit yesterday to fix a wheel bearing issue. I noticed when I took the car away that the clock was flashing, which would suggest they've disconnected the battery. Now when I lock the car (central locking via keycard) i get a high pitched whining bleeping noise which lasts about 60 seconds.

My wife if off to take it back to them to check, but I wondered if anyone knew what this could be, and how to fix.

many thanks

This may not be of any help, but on my different model car, there is a high pitched long sounding beep if the bonnet is not closed properly when locking the car.

The only reason I post this is that I was wondering why they would disconnect the battery when changing a wheel bearing. Then I realised that the bonnet would have to be opened!

Another possibility is, if your battery connections are anything like mine, there are about 5 different wires on each terminal, some of which have to be removed to get to the main terminal nut. Its easy to miss one of the smaller ones when putting it back together.

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!
