Changing Battery

Postby mic21041985 » Wed Jul 08, 2009 10:30 am

Does anyone know how to get into the battery! I might have to replace it and would rather do it myself, i changed my puntos one no probs, but i noticed that my megane (03 dynamique 1.6 petrol) has covers over the battery! How easy is it to get in, i only had a quick look yesterday, but is there special sockets needed to open it up, if so could someone point me in the right direction as to where i might aquire them

Also could anyone tell me the difference between a calcium based battery and a lead based one as there is a tenner difference

Cheers

plastic cover -- TRX-Star bit or hex socket -- very low torque
battery bracket -- TRX-Star socket plus extension bar -- low torque
terminals -- 10mm spanner -- low torque
For the torque values see the manual in my message in Links.
Don't forget to attach the vent pipe to the battery. You will also need the radio code and the procedure for calibration of windows (see the sticker in this section). Put some lithium grease on the terminals to prevent corrosion. Varta Silver and Bosch S5 batteries are of acceptable quality.
