2003 Megane II 1.6 dynamique CPR required

Postby mic21041985 » Tue Jul 07, 2009 9:49 am

Hi everyone

MY MEGANE IS DEAD :cry

My keycard wasn't opening the door, so I managed to get in through using the manual key, wen inside the electrics were goin a bit nuts then the needles on the dials started dancing for a few seconds, now nothing comes on at all, no electrics apart from some flashing red bulb next to the speedometer, even that looks ropey.

Now being a novice I dont really know how all the car is linked together and my electronics knowlege is that of a five year old, my first thought was that the battery had died, but i didnt think that would affect my keycard / central locking.

Was just looking for any ideas as to what it could be, was thinkin my fuses, but could anyone tell me if there is fuse in the engine fuse box that protects all the in car electrics! How do you get into the fuse box in the engine

Any info is appreciated

Your battery is probably dead! Get this checked out first. All of the symptoms you describe correspond to a duff battery.

Other than that it could be water ingress into the UCH?

Welcome along BTW

I second that. Sounds to me like battery. If you have a volt meter to hand, you can easily check it. Set meter to dc voltage range and measure across the battery terminals. With any luck and a following wind, there ought to be between 12.5 and 13.5 Vdc. Also, check all your connections are tight and clean. Make sure that your access holes for changing the headlight bulbs have their covers on. They are under the wheel front arches.

In the nicest possible way, I hope it is the battery. Nice quick easy fix!

Good luck mate..

so if your battery dies, does your card become uncoded?

Nice one iainMW and starman.

Now that I think about it my car has had problems starting, i have to give it some gas to bring it to life, so i hope it is the battery! Although i noticed yesterday that there was dirt inside my front left headlight, so il have to check the afore mentioned holes as well.

Thanks for ur help people keep up the good work

Not sure on that one, I don't think so as long as your the battery in your card is still healthy?
