Wired FM Modulator for AUX input

Postby Disco_Stu » Tue Apr 21, 2009 9:07 am

Hi

I've just got my hands on a wired FM Modulator so i can plug my ipod into the stereo, couldnt get a tunepoint or similar because i have a cd changer. Has anyone fitted one? The instructions that came with it, are a bit lacking.

It requires a power connection, I'm not sure where the best source is to take from, was thinking the head unit power itself, but I've heard that this isn't the best way to do it.

Also, do i really need the twin prong tool for removing the head unit, or would a home made one or screw drivers do the job?

cheers

Stuart

ps i did search and read the FAQs, but didnt find anything applicable, sorry if I missed it!

I took the power, ignition live and earth from the headunit wiring loom had no problems yet on my wifes scenic, I would get the removel tools its alot easier. The thing I have noticed is the sound quality via the fm modulator is not that good compared to a direct link.

cheers alan, think i'll go hunting to get my hands on the proper tools then.

Couldn't think of another option to connect my ipod since i have the cd changer, so no spare socket on the back of the head unit for a direct link, plus it was only a tenner, so i though it was worth a punt. We shall see

cheers again

Stuart, go to the Dension site, you can have the option to have both connected.

Hi Alan,

cheers found the dension gateway and seen the CD changer retention kit. Have you used it yourself?

Can find the gateway online to buy, but not the retention kit for some reason. Looks like a lot of money but if it works well I'd go for it.

Thanks again mate
