Megane 225 ( 2006) rear discs incl bearings

Postby nbray67 » Wed Apr 15, 2009 10:43 am

Hi,

Does anybody know how easy it is to fit new rear discs complete with bearings, is it a matter of removing the brake caliper, removing the lock nut and sliding the complete disc / hub off or do I need any special tools such as a hub puller etc....

Adding to this, where is the best place to get the discs incl bearings from and what kinda money am I looking at?

My car drones at the rear so I'll replace the discs as well as the bearings - anybody any thoughts on this??

Regards
Neil :conf

Once the locknut is removed (30mm if i recall), the disc/hub assembly just slides off easily.
You will probably require a tool for pushing back the pistons as they require turning at the same time.

Instead of the tool one can use a combination spanner and a short bar. Put the bar through the ring and use the open end of the spanner as a screwdriver. You'll have to push the piston hard (about 15kg of force) while winding it in clockwise. Careful, don't let the spanner slip and use gloves.

The locknut needs a long socket.
