Hello all. I have recently purchased a 2004 Megane 1.5 dci (80) and have a couple of questions if anyone can help that would be great.
1. It 2004 and has a stereo which says Tuner list. I also happen to have an Update list stereo lying around and as i understand i cant install this as the Display and steering wheel controls wont work. Is there anyway i can do a bit of re-wiring in order to make it work as i would like to use my ipod with it. Also does anyone know if i can use an ipod with the tuner list? I saw the tunepoint unit but didnt think much of it.
2. I can appreciate its only a 1.5 with 80bhp however 2nd gear seems very very slow. There is little to no torque at all even over 3000rpm it just doesnt seem to pull at all until you hit 3rd gear when it seems a little better. Does this seem normal from this engine?
3. I am averiging 39mpg which seems well below Renaults claims. The MPG metre has been recently reset could this be why?
Thats all for now any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks Jake.
Couple of questions.

Re: Couple of questions.
The 39mpg seems very low i have a late 53 plate megane 1.5 80bhp and even in winter I have never had less than 56mpg although I do have a tuner box fitted. When you have reset your trip computer it does average itself out after 10-20 miles
Instead of trying to get the update list cd headunit to connect to your car just buy a connects2 which will allow you to connect your ipod to the tuner list and still use the steering controls to change tracks I do have one for sale if your interested make me an offer as i have just taken it out of my car and put back in a tunepoint
a connects 2 looks like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Connects2-ARNIPOD003-IPOD-ADAPTER-RENAULT-MOST-MODELS_W0QQitemZ260379391063QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item260379391063&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72:1683|66:2|65:12|39:2|240:1318

Re: Couple of questions.
Try a simple test. First, warm up the engine to 90C. Then reset the trip and drive gently at about 50mph on an A-road for about 10 miles. Try this late at night, when the traffic is light. The MPG should be not less than 55mpg. Anything above 55mpg depends upon many factors, such as hills, roundabouts/traffic lights, tyres, tyre pressures, suspension condition, fuel, wind, etc. Use a decent fuel in this test, e.g. Shell Extra, and don't use Shell V-Power, as it seems to cause the ECU to display lower MPG figures than they really are.

freddymercurystwin wrote:The mpg figure cannot be commented upon unless you tell us under what driving conditions you get that figure. Is it stop-start around town, mainly A roads, motorway etc, what average speed do you have etc etc?
I live and work around the city centre area so its mainly around town stop start driving around 30-40mph with a bit of rush hour traffic.

Re: Couple of questions.
It's OK then. This figure is still better than what you would have got from a petrol.
Consider changing oil at half of the "official" intervals and drive once a fortnight for at least 20 min at more than 50mph.

Re: Couple of questions.
Make it £30 and I will send it next day delivery for the connects2 send me a pm if interested.
if you do a search on this forum for tuning boxes you will find lots of hits.
The majority I would say are all positive , I have had no negatives yet and won't be taking it off my car anytime soon as I found I get better MPG, idles better and get that extra oomph with anything else in life you have those that have had positives and those that have had negatives ........we all have renault cars so we must like negatives
Although obviously its not as good as having your car remapped but for the $$$$$ its worth it plus when you sell the car you can either unplug it and resell it or send it back and have it re coded to your new car.

£30 sounds good. I would prefer Paypal payment if thats ok bearing in mind i have no idea who you are.
I'm assuming its in decent condition. Also do you know if this will work with an iphone? As on the link you gave it doesnt mention.
If you PM me your paypal details i will send the payment and forward my address to you.
Out of interest if you are near Liverpool we can save on the postage.

I get 34.5 mpg with an average speed of 23.5mph so your's sounds fine. My previous car gave me 18mpg average for the same type of driving!Could just about get it up to the dizzy heights of 36mpg on a long 70mph motorway cruise!
My previous car was a Civic Type R so i cant really complain at 39mpg.
