New exhaust for 1.6VVT

Postby Ryck » Wed Mar 18, 2009 7:58 am

Last summer I had the original (and quite rusty) middle and rear silencers replaced with some kind of universal sport silencers.
I’m not fully satisfied with the result. At idle and lower revs it makes a nice and not too loud rumble, but at medium revs (between 3000 – 4000 rpms) it’s too loud. Unfortunately that’s where the engine spends most of its time at normal highway speeds. :(
Above 4000 it becomes relatively silent; the engine noise is louder than the exhaust.

I'm fed up with this so I decided I should replace the exhaust with something more subtle but sporty.

I found Oliver’s thread here, he said he had the exhaust of the small 2.0T, and the sound wasn’t so different to stock and gained a few hps.
Another alternative is the Supersprint middle and rear silencer, but it seems rather expensive and I don’t know if it’s worth its price. Has anyone got it? How loud is it?

Any ideas and advices are welcome :)
