what size alloys?

Info on parts and accessories for the Mégane II, what to use and where to buy them.

hi guys

quick query-

i want to fit alloys to my authentique, which is on 15' steel wheels at the mo- can i only fit 15; wheels without affecting gearing/performance/ speedo etc?

or do the low profile tyres compensate for this if i say go for 16' wheels?

Standard dimensions on megane II is 15": 195/65R15 16": 205/55R16 17": 205/50R17.

205/55R16 is the size of a tyre and not of a wheel. Wheel sizes look differently, and each can accept several tyre sizes. See p.65 here:

Yours 15' accepts tyres of 205 width, BTW.

If you put bigger wheels on your car you can use a tyre calculator to ensure that the overall circumference of the tyre stays close to the original. This will keep your speedo accurate. Here is an example:

If you fit non standard alloy wheels note that the offset (ET) is somewhere between 38 and 45 and that the centre hub diameter is 60.5mm.
