Installing 2.0 16v(non Turbo) instead of 1.6 16v

Postby momo10000 » Sun Jan 11, 2009 6:41 pm

Dear all,

I need all of your help ..........

I am going to install 2.0 16v(non Turbo) instead of 1.6 16v , the 2.0 will be with all of its electricity components like HUC, card unit, Steering lock unit and others Units.

The people who are going to do this mission are experts in installing Megan II parts, but i am afraid of having further electronic problems or any other problems !!!!

I am already upgraded me suspension, brakes, exhaust with K&N filter.

SO.....

1- Is one one of you knows someone did the same before.... ????

2- Do you advice me to go ahead or NOT ?

Please everyone his advices required...

Thanks all

Is the wiring loom in the engine bay the same as the 1.6? if not thats were your problems will start. esp if the engine loom is part of the main loom.

also is it worth all that hassel for approx 20 bhp, heavier fuel econ, dearer road tax and insurance etc....????

either tune the 1.6

or trade it in for a proper 2.0

Hey I have a 2.0 non turbo, and a friend with a 1.6, I have tuned mine but to be honest there is not much difference in the two for acceleration (before tuning). I would go with earlier advice and just tune up your 1.6.

I used to have a saxo VTS 1.6 16v, 120bhp standard, i had miltek full stainless exhaust with decat and 4-1 manifold with heat wrap, PiperX viper induction kit and a super chip. had the car rolling roaded at 156bhp! and it was a fooking flyer! so the potenal is there for your megane 1.6 engine. you could even look into get the cams done, ported and polished head etc. etc.

Dear All .... I am really thankful for your support....

I will go with all of advices and avoid this installing although i had paid a deposit.

First , there is not 2.0 at all in Egypt, this engine came with its components individually from Europe, So, NO Way to buy a new or used car with 2.0

Second, i will complete tuning my 1.6 ... i have already installed :

koni Shocks
Apex Springs
Full upgraded EBC brakes
K&N filter ( induction kit)
SuperSprint Central Pipe with Rear Exhaust

Only the header ( superSprint ) will be installed within the coming 2 weeks....

MY question is : is there any other suggestion or product to increase HP ?

Third : I am thinking to Tune the software of my ECU with K-tech Racing ...with alot of money ... what do you think all about this ?

I am really sorry for disturbing ... but you are the only people i trust to guide me for the right way....

cheers
Ayman

Remap on a natually asperated petrol engine wont give you 30 bhp, diesel or petrol turbo yes! maybe combined with other mods such as cams, zorst, manifold and induction kit then u will be hitting that sort of gain if not a little bit more.

2.0 163 +16bhp / 20lb ft
2.0 172 + 17bhp / 18lb ft
2.0 182 +18bhp / 18lb ft
2.0 225 +35bhp / 36lb ft
2.0 135 +14bhp / 14lb ft

so wasnt that far out :D

there all 2.0s his engine is a 1.6, remaps on N/A engine normally gives 10% so by them figures im rite, 160bhp = 16 bhp increase. 172 bhp = 17 bhp increase and so on. the reason the 2.0 225 has such a large increase as its turbo charged!

the only thing the remap can alter on a N/A engine is timing and fueling, thats why the increases are small, but with a petrol and diesel turbos as well as the timing and fueling the boost pressure is also altered hence why you get big gains on turbod cars.

so a remap on a 1.6 16v 111bhp the gain will be approx 10bhp. which u wouldnt really notice, car would prob feel more responsive. now if you was to have a induction kit (preferibly forced or closed induction) with full zorst including decat and manifold and cams and then get the cars ecu remapped to those mods then u would see nice and noticeable gains.

1.6 98 +10bhp / 11lb ft
1.6 110 +11bhp / 11lb ft
1.6 113 +11bhp / 11lb ft

300 quid for 11bph mmm some filters do that and more :D

my thoughts exactly

that £300 would prob only get u a standard downloadble program onto your ECU with slight atterations to the standard fueling and timing setting, now if you go down the route of a piggy back ECU, the likes of dastek then u can get these personally mapped to your car, your mods and your needs, but thay cost a fair bit more......
