first off make sure the bulbs are in the right way round (sounds daft, but this can sometimes happen and effect light pattern etc...)
I had a mate with a 3 series BMW and he bought the angle eye rings to fit inside the original headlight, he didnt line them up correctly inside the headlight and they created a big V shaped shadow on the road as they disturbed the projection of the light onto the road, it took a bit of adjustment but we got it right in the end so the beam pattern was as it should be! the angle eye parts of your light my be out???
also check you have wired them up right, the projector (dome, light closest to front grill) is your normal night driving light (dipped beam) and the outer bigger light next to indicator is the main beam, make sure the wires havent got mixed up.
see what adjustment there is on the units, with them having projector lenses, there my be some sort of "focus" adjustment on them as well as beam angle and distance adjustments.
The only other suggestion to try and improve them is get a mates car facing a wall or fence, turn his lights on and with either a marker pen or masking tape, mark his beam pattern and height on the wall, also mark where his front wheels are, try and get your car in the same position, turn your lights on and see how your beam pattern etc... compaires to your mates car, if its out, as it will be, try and adjust then units untill you get somewhere near what you have marked on the wall, i doubt you will get it anywhere as good as the orginal lights.
