SO MANY THINGS WRONG HELP

Postby peggypatch » Tue Dec 02, 2008 9:32 pm

Hi
I own a megane 2006 model 1.9dci
bought it from motorpoint so it's an import but what a bag of cr*p.
This is my fourth renault and by far the worst and what makes it even more of a bitter pill to swallow is I paid £12,000 or near enough new!
The problems started more or less as soon as I got it 1st winter it was listing up all the time took it to renault who couldn't find the fault - then my door compartments were full of water - took it to renault they sorted the problem (NOT). One day whilst washing the car I was cleaning it inside and the pillars at the windscreen were wet through took it to renault again and lo and beold they hadn't sealed the windscreen!!! How dangerous can this be?

Anyway as time as gone by I have had a renault service at £280 then started getting a fault on the computer saying Braking fault and the STOP light coming on took it to Renault and once again they didn't know why it was happening but reassured me the brakes were fine! A week later after shopping in Tesco I walked out of the store and my drivers window was down thought I was going mad put it back up and drove home. Later that night as it was pouring down just thought I'd check and once again window down, leather interior getting p***ed wet through, window wouldn't work so bagged it and went to bed.
Took it to Renault next morning they replaced a mechanism in the window and sent me on my merry way, this was Thursday, Saturday morning come out to the car on my way to work and once again the window was down - took it back to Reanult who kept the car for the weekend and now replaced the loom sent me away again.

The braking Fault is still coming on, yesterday my radio stopped working completely so I phoned Renault Customer Care to tell them what a piece of crap this megane is and they should be ashamed of themselves - which obviously they didn't really care they've had their money! It is booked in for the 9th they tell me so I felt relieved it may be sorted but once again I got in my car tonight and now I have no Stereo, Braking Fault - although now I can't see it as I have no internal lights!!!!

The guy at Renault thinks I may have a problem with my electrics (no sh*t Sherlock nearly came from my mouth)

Has anyone been this unfortunate or is it just me>
Thanks

Im sorry to here of your troubles, Must of been a friday afternoon car.

When i started reading i thought it was going to be a story about Motorpoint themselves as they were such a set of unhelpful, lying, deceiving set a b*****ds with me when i bought a Punto from there in 1999

As you have said if deffo sounds like and electrical problem, Prob find the water u have had coming into car has got into the electrics somewhere and shorting out. prob in one of the fuse boxes or conection blocks. thats the thing with cars nowadays with the type of wireing systems they have, one thing goes faulty and it affects other things!!

I used to have a Peugoet 607, it was off the road for over a month with an electrical problem, all the electrics stopped working or would work intermitanly, i even woke up one morning and the boot was open as it had electical openeing!! They evenually traced the fault to a ECU in the rear inner wing that controlled the rear parking sensors, put a new one in and it was fine. but the reason it took them soooo long to find it as this ECU wasnt on any of the wiring diagrams or exploded diagrams for the car!!! :banghead

Just though I'd post to cheer you up.......have 2003 Dynamique petrol.

Has been Ok part from last 12 months, suggested repairs from local Stearlership are as follows:

Front brakes and discs - £ 300
Rear brakes and discs - £ 300
New exhaust - £ 200 - is £ 60 at Budget !
New wiring loom for airbag warning light - £ 300
Timing belt £ 500**

* these were all for a car on its 45 k miles/5 years old service with fsh, I have n't had any of these repairs done
** did n't need it as the depahser went at 26 k miles 4 months out of warranty (£600 ) !

Recent failures:

Passenger window won't work - usual problem - £ 300 ?
Door sensors on drivers side (Comfort pack with hands free) - £ 300 ?

As the new Meagane adverts notes...."Though you've never buy a Renault........" - don't think, know I'll never buy another
- problem is - wife has a cc - looks like both cars will go next summer !

My passenger window stopped working and renault said it would be £312! Got a mate to look at it and there was a bit of water in the connecter that he blew out and the window now works fine. Id try that prior to splashing out as im sure renault might see the problem and would not give you your money back! (word of warning though, its a right pain in the a*se getting the trim off. try this if your going to try https://www.meganesport.net/files/renaul ... emoval.pdf)
