Heated seat switch

Postby gillyd88 » Mon Dec 01, 2008 7:52 am

Another problem to add to my list now, my heated seat switch on the drivers seat will not stay in the on position. Its typical as the weather has got colder it decides to break.

I was wondering if anyone has any fixes? When you press it it just clicks straight back to the off position. The seat still works of you hold it in the on position but that isnt the best thing to be doing whilst driving! Anyone know how to get the housing around the handbrake off so i can look at the back of the switches and see if something has snapped or anything a bit easier?

Cheers

Lift the arm rest cover up, and the trim by the handbrake is held on by clips - just slowly pull it and it will come off.

In the mean time you could just use some blue-tak or something to keep it in the on position!

I'm having the same problem: the switches just click back into the "off" position. During a typical drive I have to swtich them on a few times, very annoying. At first I thought it might be some sort of temperature-limiter to protect the seats or my *ss, but sometimes they click back after a few seconds.

I'm gonna call my dealer, but I'm sure they've never heard of it before (they never hear anything about any problem at all....)

My car is still under waranty, so I think they'll have to take some sort of action.

(And no :no : this is not a way to tell you I've also got leather seats... )

Well mine is well out of warranty so have had to have a fiddle myself. Managed to get the trim off where the switches are and just unplugged them and plugged them back in and it seems to have rectified the problem. If it continues however will have to look at getting some new switches.

Was wondering though if anyone knows, as i have read somewhere that all the meganes have the wiring already there for heated seats, is it just a case of getting a piece of trim with some switches on and plugging them in if the megane hasnt got heated seats? Only reason i am asking is that im thinking of getting a megane sport (im crazy i know, but its a love hate relationship!)

And no, lol, was not a quick slip to show off i have heated seats, lol, and unfortunatly im not lucky enough to have leather seats. And i want to know why renault dont do a heated steering wheel as vauxhall do! (not that i would use it very often, i hardly ever turn my seats on)
