Engine management light on

Postby moonman5 » Tue Nov 11, 2008 10:18 pm

Hi All,
Can anyone help?.... Driving home on monday night my 2005 Megane Coupe Cab 1.6 vvt lost power
and the engine started to run a little rough, the idle speed had dropped slightly and the fuel consumption started to
deterioate, then after only a few more miles the engine management light came on (now and then going off on its own).

The car only has 21,000 miles on it, Can anyone throw any ideas at me to what it might be?

Also is the engine management light the same as the toxic fume light? only I have read some ownership problems
that mention this light with the same problems?

Many thanks for any help.... Allen.

One of the coils may be starting to break down. Spark plugs could be another source of the fault or you might have trouble with the TDC sensor.

Hmm, my engine management light has been on constantly for nearly a year now along with the service light, I have just left them really!

But with the rough ride, a couple of my coil packs have gone at different times, they are dead cheap and easy to replace!!
