Hi, im new to the forum and would like to say Hello to all.
I recently purchased my Megane which is now out of warranty and i want to protect it from any future mishaps. The only problem i had with the car when i bought it was a rear window motor not working. (Im not suprised as its completely exposed to rain in the door). I can live with that, however i've noticed pools of water in the passenger side door pocket when it rains.
I searched the forum for an answer and one particular answer was to cover the hole behind the speaker, well i did that and its still letting water in. I was wondering if I missed a real fix somewhere?
Also i heard the Megane II has poor protection for its electrics, i.e window motors, ecu to start the car etc. I was hoping you fellow owners would be able to advise me what parts i should protect from corrosion etc. Im thinking of covering the window motors and electrics in all 4 doors, but from there i dont know.
Are there any water drainage pipes that should be cleaned regularly to stop water build up?
Any help and suggestions would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi and welcome!
Actually I too would be interested in your responses...
...because I have a 2005 Megane Sport Tourer with water that accumulates in the drivers door pocket and when I bought it the rear window motor was kaputt!
I haven't done anything with the water leaks but the window motor was warranty work (tbh I never use it anyway) but the water leaks have never caused any harm and only happen overnight when it rains a lot.
Good luck and happy motoring!

Welcome to the club. There will be quite a few threads about water in the door pockets on this forum. I have only had it on one occasion when my car was parked on a slope with a camber and we were having a monsoon-like downpour. Water ingress can also come through the bulkhead if you dont keep the scuttle grill drain holes clear, so watch out for all the falling leaves at the moment.

Ah thanks for the replies.
Well i carried out a full service on my renault and decided to have a look at the doors. I've come to the conclusion water isn't getting in through the speakers but from either side within the door pocket as theres a crevice in each corner which is exposed and open to water entering the pocket. Im going to make a door membrane for both the front doors which i will use between the exposed door and the door trim, that way no water can get in via a poor window seal etc.
Will let you know how i get on.
I've also noticed that the car has a very small but noticable rough idle, you can feel the car gently shake at idle. Besides that the car drives fine, any reason for this or fixes?
Thanks.
Joske

I think uneven idle is just one of those things you have to live with. You could try rocking the engine to see if an engine mount is on it's way out. Another way of checking for failed engine mounts is to see how much the gear lever moves when you take your foot off the throttle whilst driving.
If you had coil failure or spark plug failure that would cause uneven running but you would get a service light and toxic fume message on the dashboard.

I would go and change the top engine mount on the drivers side. usually this stops any shaking, rattling an drolling - also did this on mine.
As for the water, I only have problems when I parks sideways on a hill - in that case the uphill pocket fills with water.
Workaround: No sideways hillparking

Re: 2005 Megane 1.4 16V 5DR Need General Help
Hi
I have had both doors trims resealed by renault under waranty, this has stopped the door pockets filling with water, water runs down the inside of the door lining and fills the pockets.
i have now a problem with the rear and front water jets not working and also the radio only works as if the engine is off also the rear heated windscreen is not working and the clock only works when the lights or the radio is on.
I have found water under the carpets only on the drivers side, conectors under drivers seat are wet but some contact spray and an air jet has got the service light off.
has any one any ideas on what i can do to sort the rest of the problems out?
thanks
Chris

Thanks for the replies.
When i fully serviced the car i noticed the engine rocks quite a bit, but with this movement i would expect it to cushion any vibrations from the engine rather than enhance them.
Best way would be to see how the engine moves in the engine bay whilst on I guess.
I dont want to go wasting money on mounts if they dont need doing. So any other ideas what it could be?
I will have a go at cleaning the throttlebody in the next few weeks too.
