Car wont start? Possibly a simple one!

Problem with your Megane? Can't find an answer? Workshop manuals and technical notes are in here.

Car wont start? Possibly a simple one!

Postby meccano04 » Sun Jul 20, 2008 10:33 pm

Hey

Today i went to start the car (53plate 1.4) and when i pressed the button the ?ignition? just chugged away but the car didnt start for a good while, i stopped the car again, then tried to start the car but this time it chugged away and i got nothing, the car stopped and the battery light came on. Eventually i got it started tho...

I think the battery is fine, its one with a wee led on it to check the status, and after i took it a drive, i stopped and started it and it started fine.

Its wierd as its done this just once or twice before, could it just be the battery running a little low? Anything i should worry about?

If the ignition turns but the engine doesn't fire then most probably its the TDC sensor, a very common failure. Its also relatively cheap & easy to replace...

Regards the little green indicator on the battery. My battery died last week totally dead even after a nights charge yet the green indicator was still there. When i mentioned that to the auto electrician he said they're the biggest waste of time ever and mean nothing!!
