Hello all,
Mine is an 06 Megane 1.6 petrol engine with 20K on the clock,I did not use my a.c. for the last 8 months or so (winter time in Egypt),lately when using the a.c. for long journeys(2hours or more) and then switching it off,I start hearing a whining noise with a regular pitch during motion on all speeds,it is not related to the brakes nor to the wheels its coming from something rotating with the motor,it becomes louder when I shift to normal during motion.
Next day the sound is gone and so on after the a.c. is on for like 2 hours or so and then I turn it off I start hearing the sound,if I do not use my a.c. or use it for short periods, no sound is heard,
any help will be highly appreciated.

Re: whining noise after A.C. is on
best bet is that your refigerant level has decreased and has to be filled up.
be advised, not using the AC for 8 months is not good at all, everythings drying up inside the AC-system and thus the gaskets are getting damaged over the years....use it once a week for some minutes to avoid this

Don't understand why you hear it after the aircon is turned off. But yes get it regassed (they put oil in too) and see if it fixes your problem
