Electric Mirrors on CC 53 plate

Postby boobfan2 » Thu Jun 26, 2008 7:07 pm

Hi everyone,

My electric adjustable folding mirrors now dont do anything, I had some work done which meant removing the inner door panel (drivers side) and the switches were disconnected. The windows work but the mirrors no longer move or fold and there is also no outside temp display on the radio/saty nav display (the temp sensor is mounted inside the drivers mirror).

They admitted they let the battery go flat and it has been jump started, could this have caused it ? I am pretty good on fixing electrical faults but this one has got me and the fuse diagrams in the handbook are frankly rubbish !

Can anyone advise ?

Many thanks

I am guessing one of the fuses has blown

Temperature sensor is also in the mirror. Looks like they forgot to connect something behind the panel. Another option is to find which controller is responsible for these functions. Too late to read the manual tonight...

Can't you just ask the garage to fix what they have damaged?

Hi,

Thanks for replying.

I am getting the garage to diagnose it by plugging a laptop in (not a Renault dealer though). Using the PDfs from her I have tracked how the mirrors work, all the fuses are fine and there is power to the mirror. It has taken a weird turn however, the drivers mirror is now constantly trying to move the glass, so much so I have unplugged the connector ebfore it burns it out.

Hope fully they will test it tomorrow and I will post the findings !

Now all I have to fix is my reverse parking sensors ! (I will post that in a seperate posting).

Thanks everyone for your help so far.

Update, its been checked out by a guy with a computer, no faults (apart from a temp sensor fault which may explain why I only gat 29mpg round town from a 2.0 VVT CC 53).

The are telling me its a wiring fault...........grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Weird thing is the drivers mirror motor is always on now trying to move the glass, the passenger one doesnt do a thing.

help !

Update, I took the door panel off myself and found they trapped the wiring behind one of the fixing screws chrushing the wiring. Its not actualy stripped any insulation off but I am wondering if its enough to have caused the computer to go loopy.

If I turn on my side lights the drivers door mirror class moves ! and keeps trying to move...........at the same time if I move the mirrow controls it tries to move the mirror but its always trying to pull in the other direction. I have tried disconnecting the battery for 30 mns to see if that resets the computers.......... no luck.

Arrrghhhhhhhh, anyone got any ideas !

Hello all, had the comuter replaced and everything now works woohoo ! Had to take it back to the dealer to make them wash off the mucky handmarks they left inside the car and also fit all 4 of my dust caps on the wheels which they 'forgot' to put on.......muppets.

Renault UK rang last Sunday with a customer satisfaction call to see that my experience was like with my recent trip to my renault dealer...... the last question they asked was 'would ou recomment this dealer to friends' ..... answer 'absolutly NOT'.... the woman on the phone didnt seem to like my honesty for some reason......
