Help! Problematic '04 Megan

New to the forums, so Hi! I've been reading for a couple of weeks. (some of the jokes are good)

Bought an '04 Megan from A/C (sigh). A couple of days in I'm having an intermittent problem getting it started.

The best way I can describe it is that it behaves like a cold engine and stalls. You push the break or clutch press start, it starts ticking over slowing droping RPMs until it stalls. This usually happens after the car is started again shortly after a previous journey. It's fine each morning! If you just pull off before it stalls or give it a bit of persuasion with the accelerator your good to go.

It does seem a bit 'juddery' when it's idling.

Mr C. looked at it today and couldn't find a fault. Anyone any ideas?

EDIT: Apologies, it's a petrol 1.4 16V Megane Extreme.

Had this on a Vectra and two Fiats, I cleaned or changed the idle control valve on all of them and the idling issue disappeared. Dont even know where to look on the Megane as I have only had mine 5 days. Hope this helps.

you need to specify what engine have you got 1.4,etc. also mention if it is Diesel or petrol.

hi there....

there is loads about this on here....i had the same issues...its normally the fuel air mixture and there are lots of things this could be, i had probs with hot starting too.....try getting the throttle body cleaned..can work wonders and quite cheap...also coolant sensor, TDC sensor, type of fuel...(ie not using tesco)..coil misfires...there may be a fault that needs clearing on the ECU....(I HAD ALL OF THIS!!) search my posts and see my progress....
