Flashing engine light...HELP!!!!!

Can anyone please help me or just give me some advice.

I have a 03 megane 2.0 litre turbo and every now and again i get a flashing engine light on my dashboard. It only seems to come on when the engine is cold and if i stop (i.e at traffic lights) with the engine running within the first half mile of so. I got a similar prob about 2 months back and my local garage said the coil had broke. So when it happened again last week i went straight back to the garage but this time they said nothing is wrong with it. I did a 300 mile round time with no problem but the next day on the way to work stopped at the lights and the light came back on. The light does go out once i start driving again so i'm confused. any ideas would be grateful.

Its the engine warning light, with orange one with the waves above it.

waves above? if it is engine symbol flashing then its toxic fume, i.e coil

I thought as much, but i would of thought the garage would of picked up on it.

chances are it logged a code, they reset it and it didnt come back on, so they thought they had fixed it.
