1.9 Dynamique

Postby Xila » Thu May 01, 2008 9:27 am

Ok, maybe I am being a bit thick - but is this the sport version - some places come back and say it's a Renault Megane Sport 1.9 Dynamique, others do not mention that it is the Sport.

Also, what pictures are there of modified versions - lowered on some rims. I'm selling my Leon Cupra 1.8 20v Turbo as I'm switching jobs (home office) and will need to travel more (no more home office :() and take a pay cut. How high up do you sit in one of these - my old man has the Scenic and you sit so high up it's not even funny.

Cheers!

The 2.0GT diesel has 2 choices 150bhp or 175bhp. The 175 can out accelerate the megane RS 230 from 30-70mph so over taking should be ok. Fuel economy should be between 35-45mpg.

The sports version looks different to the standard it has got different front and rear bumpers different brakes and alloy size. It is much lower than the standard so yes you sit lower as well.

Hi Wanda,

So the Megane Sport Diesel is the 2l GT version. Does it sit lower than the 1.9 Dynamic because it's on coilovers/springs - something that can be replicated - or are the seats actually mounted lower.

Thanks !

I am not 100% sure. The RS has 18" alloys and is 120mm (ground clearance) but according to renault.co.uk it is the same as the standard :hm

I thought the 'sport' label was for the 3-door vehicles as opposed to the 5-door vehicles.

If you see a megane pull up next to you and you the other driver makes eye contact with you and then revs his engine and it says sports on the side.

Then just let him go

Sport badge is only for sport engines.

Ahh, a sneaky front/rear bumper change would do then :)

Further to my previous comment and to clarify, on the Renault website you will find this:

https://www.renault.co.uk/cars/model/meg ... specs.aspx

This is described as a Sport Hatch but it is only a 1.4 100bhp vehicle. It only has 3 doors.
I think the faster models have a Renaultsport badge.

I agree with jonault. My Meg was advertised as a Sport Hatch because it a 3 door :?

AFAIK, Jonault is correct. OK, there might be some models specifically called sport (instead of Dynamique etc), but the actual bodystyles have been marketed as: 3dr Sport Hatch; 5dr Hatch; 4dr Sport Saloon and 5dr Sport Tourer. So a Renault Megane Sport Hatch 1.9 dCi Dynamique is a 3dr diesel with ~120/130 bhp...

There is of course Renault Sport, but the sport then comes before the model eg Renault Sport Megane 225 F1 (or whatever it's actually called!)

But I thought that the sport badge on the front doors is only given to RS models.

Yep thats true, you will only get the renaultsport badge on one of the renaultsport cars...

The 1.9 dynamique as far as i am aware is no more sporty than they others except for the increse in power and some different alloys.

The GT is the first more sporty one with slightly lower suspension, stiffer shock absorbers and tighter anto roll bars. Also has sports front seats, twin exhaust and a bit more power...

Combined consumption of the 150bhp GT DCi is quoted at 51mpg
