remap and filter

Postby dci120matt » Wed Apr 30, 2008 6:58 pm

hello all, i have a question regarding the angel tuning remap, i have been looking around to get my car remapped, i am going to go with angel tuning as it seems everyone who has used them has come away very happy with them. i was looking on there website and the remap costs 350 pounds but they also do an air filter as well for an additional 180 quid, it says that the air filter can provide gains of up to 5-6%, now i am not a great fan of aftermarket induction kits, but i just wanted to know if anybody has had the both fitted and to anybody who has not, should i just clean my itg panel filter and put that back in before i get it mapped

an air filter will generally improve pickup - on disels it doesnt really make an 'induction' noise when you accelerate - i fitted a green cotton panel and am happy with it

as for remaping - am saving the pennies to get it remapped !!

Might have to look at this green filter you mentioned, its due a service so they can replace it while they are doing it :-D

Where did you purchase the Green filter from?

I went for the Angel Tuning and have been pleased so far, really has changed the car into something different, pick up is loads better now

The Green Cotton filter site has two different filters for the Megane II. Part No. P950303 for petrol engines at around £37 or part No. P950382 for diesel engines at around £43. These filters need to be cleaned and re-oiled once or twice a year.

so is it worth getting the cda induction kit that they offer? as £180 is alot for no performance gains

will never get many performance gains personally - best 5bhp with an air filter - basically the colder the air the better the combustion and thus better bhp

but uprated filters also decrease the 'cleaning' power of the filter by offering a less restrictive filter and thus more crap can get into the engine. so all ups and downs

but the best combination is getting uprated exhaust manifold, and full uprated exhaust system. As the more air you put in - that extra air has got to escape somehow and thus need a better exhaust.

Going for a full system from the air induction to the exhaust then you could see gains of upto 15-20 bhp

i have an itg filter, it needs a clean how do i go about re oiling it or do i not bother, i did not have any spray on oil crap like i did with my old pipercross induction kit i had on my old car, the reason i was going to pick angel tuning over rs tuning is that they come to you, so i dont have to drive for hours to get to the rs tuning workshop, but if you think it will be worth it i might consider it.
