steve the postman/james_k

How are you finding your cars after fitting the module?

Took mine of the other day as it was going back to the dealers; Thought i'd left the handbrake on the first time I set off without the module in. The car was so different

That's the "Premier" model I think?

I think all of us have opted for the standard "Classic" model

Just added one of these little beauties to the Wife's 86bhp Clio III and WOW what an improvement :grin

Performance is really up and fuel economy had improved by 5mpg on an average run (i.e. some town and a little motorway)

The only down side is that it was a bugger to fit as everthing is now encased in plastic on the Clio and access to the pressure sensor connector was difficult to say the least; had to adapt a small screw driver to allow me to release the clip without having to do a major strip down.

Another worth while investment IMHO and worth 20 minutes and skinned knuckles :D :cry

Just wondering how you guys are getting on with your tuning boxes? I am thinking of getting one in the next week or so... Just out of interest, once fitted does the onboard MPG reading on the trip computer still give you an accurate reading???

Also when you ordered did people pick the power option or power and economy? just wondering what gains people have had from what options...

I do 25,000 miles a year so will be going for the power and economy option, but think I may have a fiddle with the adjuster to see what I can get out of it :D

I just dont know. Bit worried about the fuel economy. I thought this thing would tell the management system to make use of more that is available (in simple english). So theoretically it should use more as well.....

yeh that waswhat I thought... I think its cus it manages to optimise the air/fuel mix to give more power, meaning you have to use ur right foot less, but it does seem at bit odd lol... A mate of mine has had his work van and his wifes mini done at rapidremap.co.uk and he recons it is brilliant and getting better fuel economy.... Im a bit dubious as I dont want to void my warranty :conf

In my 3rd post on the first page is a reply from Jeff at KingQuick on a couple of questions I had, fuel economy improvments are covered in his answer.

I can honestly say that fuel economy has improved considerably on both the Laguna and Clio since fitting the tuning units
For the Laguna this is about 4-7mpg depending on driving style and conditions, and for the Clio a huge 8mpg improvement. This is not based on the onboard MPG trip computer but brim to brim calculations.

When I bought both units I opted for the economy profile, as I'm now past tyre screeching getaways from road junctions and traffic lights, (although last night I could not help myself and totally wasted a boy racer in a Corsa SXi who had been irritating the S**t out of me most of the way home. :grin)

Yes your warranty may become invalid by fitting a module (but they are very quickly and easily removed) and as long as you keep your car serviced regularly and don't drive it like Lewis Hamilton everywhere then there is no reason worry about extra stress on the engine etc...

If you don't want to fit a separate module you could always opt for an engine ECU remap which is invisible in terms of both the manufacturer and insurance companies.
