fuel tank overflow???

Postby nickbell69 » Mon Nov 12, 2007 9:33 pm

Does fuel tank have an overflow? I filled up today till pump cut out then squeezed bit more in!!! When i walked back to car i noticed puddle of diesel under it. When i looked under car there was diesel dripping from various points under the tank!!! None came out of the filler hole as i put it in so just wondering is there an overflow to stop you over filling? 1.9dci 53reg

If I remember correctly there is a device that catches a limited amount of overflow, I think eventually it fills up though

Follow the last pointer in my message in the links section. Open the second file in the third group from the bottom of the web page. Start reading with 19C-12. It should not leak.

Had it from a year old Rach74 its never had recall for anything since i had it!!! Alex B thanks for that link. Looked at the pictures my languages aren't that good. Good news is i went out this morning and it hadn't lost any diesel. Guess i'll not fill it to the top in future.

Never happened to me and I always squeeze in an extra 2-5 litres.
