Phone kit installation

Hi Everybody,

I have purchased the Motorola HF850 bluetooth car kit for my megane. I currently use an excellent visorblade but would prefer something more hidden and that works automatically when I get into the car - oh and they were only £10 on amazon last night

I need to get a power supply, earth and ignition source, so obviously the radio input is the obvious for this. However, before I start cutting the ISO cables for a supply, does anybody know of an ISO plug which is specifically made to enable you to tap off these connections (and mute if the tunerlist supports)?

My plan would then be, depending on cable lengths, to put the microphone by the sunvisor through putting it up by the pillar, put the control box maybe around the back of the glovebox, the control panel next to the controls for the headlight height/interior brightness (or infront of the gearstick) and the speaker in one of the footwells, hidden away.

I just wondered if anybody had any thoughts?

For future reference, I bought an autoleads cable set which uses the car speakers and connects straight to the ISO lead system, will be fititng next weekend or so

It's completely hidden, apart from the little mic and control panel not a cable in sight and it goes through the car speakers and mutes the radio. It connects when I turn the car on and disconnects when I get out. If I ever want to remove it, I can just replace the little plastic panel it is stuck to and remove all the cabling too.

My visorblade II I had before was excellent but so is this, without the bother of charging it or doing anything except getting into the car.

I have a very similar install except my controler is next to the headlight hight adjuster
Couldn't quite reach it safely for voice dial on bottom panel
But it does look good there

what is the autoleads part number for connecting to car speekers? Also how does it connect to the hf850?
I would prefer that

Standard ISO connector, part number:
06-050B

Then you need the connector to make the autoleads cable above into motorola from the standard nokia, I never got a part number for it, sorry.

Total cost was about £31+P&P I think (but I bought another lead for my gf's swift at the same time).

Well worth it in my opinion, sound through the speakers is perfect. You do have a fairly large "connection box" - a bit smaller than the HF850 unit - which does all the muting and speaker switching and on mine it doesn't say "phone" or "mute" on the screen, it just cuts into the speakers and takes over. No idea if i can get it to say mute from what I have really.

we placed an IO TalkPlay in our megane :-

we use it with a blackberry device.

It connected into the rear of the radio ISO plugs, the Mic wire we ran behind the gloebox and up the passenger windscreen trim, under the headlining and popped the mic up by the mirror so both driver and passenger can speak (rather than locate it on drivers piller.

The answer/hang up controls are wireless so can be placed anywhere on the dash with a sticky pad, as the blackberry is all voice activated our IO controls live in the door pocket out of sight, only need them to enter the menus...

we paid £45 for our IO Talk and it was fitted within 30 mins

to hold our phone we purchased a brodit proclip bracket that fits to the left of the radio console, clips in without drilling or screwing, https://www.mobilefun.co.uk/brodit-procl ... p16469.htm

a brodit phone holder was then added to the bracket thats specific to our phones.
