New to forum and Renault, a few questions if I may?

Hi all

Im new to this forum and new to owning a Renault. Im not however new to the problems with Renault cars!! My wife bought a Megane 1.9DCi from brand new in November of 2003 and has so many problems with it, she got fed up and gave it to me.

She had a snapped shock absorber spring, radio replaced, gearstick replaced, elec windows stuck down and regulator replaced, front brake disks replaced, and a few other bits I cant remember!!!

I agreed to take the megane as I only had a 1997 Ford Escort, and decided it would be a step up for me.

Cos ive now got a relatively new car im hearing all kinds of squeaks, creaks and rattles, which im a bit worried about. Also i read about the turbo failure, but was hoping that as mine was registered in November 2003, it was ok.

My dashbaord seems to make a plasticky creak from around aboyt the radio, and no amount of pressing or pushing seems to make it stop, also there is an annoying rattle that seems to eminate from the little round speaker on the passenger side of the dash. Does anyone else have these problems? My clutch squeaks too, but i think WD would sort that.

This morning, after i'd dropped my son off ay school, i heard a faint whistling which seemed to be coming from under the car, it soon stopped, but it got me worried, it was pretty cold this morning, and i wondered whether it may be to do with that.

I also have water in my passenger door pocket, which i read about on here, and have contacted renault St Helens, who are gonna get back to me.

Anyway, sorry about the long winded intro, but please let me know if there is anything i should be worried about with these noises.

Welcome to the forum.
Rattles from the dashboard are quite common and somewhere on this forum I have seen someones fix for it. The centre part of the dash can be prised up and parts of the locating tabs can be cut off. Use silicon grease on these parts before putting it back. As for the turbo, I believe a lot of people use fully synthetic oil and change it regularly but using the search facility will show up several threads on this subject. Leaking doors will also come up a lot if you search for it.
Apart form some of the faults, these are great cars to drive so I hope your problems get sorted to your satisfaction.
