eee.. that is shocking.

my mate had a FIAT Stilo (renowned for it's electrical faults (windows would open randomly when parked) - you thought the french made bad electricians), so they got another brand new stilo.. and completely stripped it down to get its loom.. and replace the loom on my mates stilo!! how crazy!

good luck with your lawyer and case against renault/dealer.
£3500 is a crazy price.

alternatively, try the renault in Irvine as webcode has suggested.. his input in tech matters is much apprechiated :wor

Bloody ridiculous get yourself to that Irvine dealer, explain the problems and the shite treatment you've had at Clarke's, I'd also be on to RCS pronto and getting a lawyer involved would help.

As webcode has said if it's under 3 years old (Uk car) or 2years old (import) it's covered under warranty.

Talk about crap service

Looks like you've had a result. I think that RenUK might have had something to do with it. It may interest you to know that RenUK monitors this forum, so will have picked up on the saga.

It is ironic that Renault SA has just announced in its latest press release that its Customer Relations are being sharpened up and that dealers have been told to form better relationships with their customers!

Incidentally I e-mailed this thread to Renault Presse in France before I posted my original reply  !!!!

Oh and Renault knows who LGC is BTW  !

You can indeed contact RenUK - 08000 723372. Make sure that you get the name of the person you are speaking too. Before you call make a very clear list of the problems with all the dates. State how many days the car has been at the dealer, etc.. Make notes as you go along. Try and stay in control. The people you are dealing with will try and take over control of the conversation.

Following the conversation e-mail Customer Services for the attention of the person you have been speaking to. Bring up all the points and state that if you do not hear to the contrary, you will take it that the person to whom you spoke agrees with all your points!

It's time you considered getting very heavy. I am prepared to help and also quite experienced!

Have you read my sticky about writing a letter to the dealer?

Please please please guys can you help me as well

a few weeks ago we had some terrible storms here in wales
During one such storm I was driving when I had a fault message come up sayng electrical fault - was on my way to a very important meeting so decided to keep going and go straight to the garage afterwards and get it checked out

Surprise surprise the car would not start or acknowledge the key and was recovered to a local Renault dealer

It also was stating faults with steering column lock unlock

The dealer said there was a fault with the steering column lock and this would cost 365.68

ouch! - looked in to this and spoke to Renault UK and because of the age and mileage of my car (DCI privilege 03 78000 miles) - there was nothing they would do to help - ouch but could cover this so oh well off we go

The dealer then called to say that the electrical fault ws now being investigated and I told them to go ahead hour by hour so that I could get a status report each hour and give them the go ahead each time - didn't just wanna give a free hand to them to say they had done loads of hours and rip me off

Got a call the day before yesterday to say that it was the CPU and it would now cost me a total of £600

Got a call yesterday to say that the CPU and everything else would cost me £700 not £600

The dealer has just called me to say that actually it's the wiring loom that has rotted and I will have a total Bill for £2500!!!

Apparently there is some debris that "could have been there for a long time" which has caused the wiring loom to rot. - when I asked about this the mechanic told me that

QUOTE "cars these days are complicated things and if I had a home pc that was 2 years old I would expect it to be ready for the bin so having an on board computer that gives out after nearly 5 is not really that bad as things are not built to last these days"

ASTOUNDING!!!

this cannot be right - are cars not supposed to be weather proof any more!!!

If this is a design fault - which it obviuosly is otherwise others would not have the same problem - why do I have to pay for it ????

aaaaaaaaaah!! - help please someone

Headlights turned on overnight

Postby weaversrenault » Sat Feb 09, 2008 7:48 pm

I have experience headlights turnning themselved on when the car is locked and the entrycard is in the house. This seems to happen if it is raining and the light switch has been left in the on position.
