More problems

Postby Kev » Wed Jan 30, 2008 10:30 am

Hey, as I explained in the "toxic fume filter light" thread, I was having problems with my Megane. I got it last Thursday, on friday the toxic fume filter warning light came on and the car was really sluggush starting up in the mornings.

Anyway, I took it back on Monday and they reset the dashboard computer. Apparently all faults are stored on it and have to be cleared every once in a while. Once this was done the light didn't show up anymore and I was assured it was "100%" and I collected it yesterday.

That was all well and good until I try to start this morning. I put the card in and pressed start. The car doesn't start. "Electrical Fault" appears on the dash as well as the red "STOP" light. I try in vain for an hour to get it started but no joy. I rang my dealer again and they are going to pick it up and have a look at it until its (here's that phrase again!) "100%". In my first week I've had two problems, kinda makes me consider taking it back and getting another car.

Update:

It seems the electrical fault was caused by water getting into the fuse box. The garage told me that a flap at the front wheel was missing and that allowed water to get in and causeed the car to not start. The replaced the fuse box and fitted a flap so it shouldn't happen again.

Hopefully it'll be good to pick up this evening.
